India is celebrating its 77th Republic Day on January 26, 2026, marking the historic day when the Constitution of India came into force in 1950, establishing the nation as a Sovereign Democratic Republic. Ahead of the grand parade, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla was honored with the Ashok Chakra.
The Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path showcased India’s advanced defense capabilities, including BrahMos, Akash, DRDO’s Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LR-AShM), Suryastra, DHANUSH artillery gun, and the ATAGS system.
Colorful state tableaus from Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Madhya Pradesh highlighted India’s rich heritage. Punjab honored the 350th martyrdom year of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, while Gujarat celebrated the patriotic legacy of ‘Vande Mataram’.
This year’s theme, “150 Years of Vande Mataram,” is reflected through 30 tableaux, representing states, Union Territories, and government departments, celebrating India’s unity, culture, and national pride.
